Summary

In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, Thomas Jewett (personal representative of the estate of Barbara Jewett) alleged Liggett Group, Philip Morris Tobacco Co., R.J. Reynolds and Lorillard Tobacco Co of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the companies, which got plaintiff’s wife Barbara Jewett to get addicted to smoking at an early age. The plaintiff also alleged the companies of manufacturing defective cigarettes which resulted in Mrs. Jewett’s death due to emphysema (COPD) in the year 2006.

The plaintiff was represented by attorneys Norwood Wilner, Richard Lantinberg, Janna Blasingame Custer and James Matthews. The defence in this case comprises of Liggett Group, Philip Morris Tobacco Co, R.J. Reynolds and Lorillard Tobacco Co. Liggett Group was represented by attorney Kelly Luther.
