In this bellwether talc trial, two plaintiffs contend their use of defendant Johnson & Johnson's talc-based Baby Powder caused their ovarian cancer.
Plaintiffs contend their long-time use of the product caused their disease. The defense argues that talc in its Baby Powder was safe and plaintiffs' cancer occurred because of other causes.
This is the second-ever California state court cancer trial related to allegations that J&J's talc-based cosmetic products cause ovarian cancer.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to camera placement restrictions and the requirement jurors not appear on camera, only audio of the attorneys during opening statements (along with images of demonstratives) is available.
Verdict for plaintiffs.
Total damages: $40 million.
