In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, plaintiff Florence Weick (personal representative of the estate of Richard Weick) alleged R J Reynolds of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the company, which led Richard Weick to get addicted to smoking at the age of 13, 24 years before the first warning label appeared on any cigarette package. The plaintiff also alleged the company of manufacturing defective cigarettes which resulted in Mr. Weicks death due to lung cancer in 1997.
The plaintiff was represented by attorney Stephen Ruth. The defendant in this case R J Reynolds was represented by attorney Stephen Kaczynski.
The jury found that addiction to cigarettes was not the legal cause of Mr. Weick's death.
