In this medical malpractice trial, January Threat was born with severe brain damage after her mother, Eulanda Threat, suffered complications during birth. These complications led doctors to perform an emergency hysterectomy. Eulanda Threat sues Dr. Kendra Gamble-Webb, asserting that Webb failed to monitor the child, causing her brain damage.
Attorneys for Threat argue that untreated rapid contractions, in addition to failure to monitor the baby's heart rate, led to a likely amniotic fluid embolism. Additionally, they claim that Gamble-Webb failed to perform a Cesarean section, which would have prevented the brain damage.
Defendant Dr. Gamble-Webb contends that she needed to save Eulanda's life first after her blood pressure rapidly dropped, before performing the C-section. Representatives for the defense claim that the embolism was unpredictable and that both the mother's and daughter's vital signs were tracked.
Verdict for plaintiff.
