Summary
In this medical malpractice litigation proceeding, plaintiff Gary Striepling (personal representative of the estate of Shirley Streipling) alleged Valley Health System LLC and its staff of negligence by inadvertently severing the common bile duct during the abdominal surgery, which plaintiffs wife Shirley Striepling was undergoing to treat a stomach ulcer with a partial gastrectomy. The subsequent failure of the bile duct sutures allegedly resulted in sepsis and caused Mrs. Strieplings death in January, 2007, at age 71, approximately a week after the surgery.
