Rancho Cordova v. The Lily Company

10/18/10 – 10/27/10

Eminent domain jury trial. CVN covered an earlier bench trial in this litigation.

The Rancho Cordova Community Redevelopment Agency attempted to acquire 12 acres of land on Folsom Blvd., to redevelop the Mills Station Crossing area as a new campus for Los Rios Community College, as well as retail and residential uses.

The Lilly Company owned four lots totaling approximately ten acres of the twelve acres, including the current site of Carolina's Mexican Restaurant and the former site of the Farmers Center Shopping Center. The redevelopment district offered The Lilly Company $4.52M to acquire the land.

The jury found the land to be worth 9.6 million minus the clean-up cost, which was 1.7 million
