In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, plaintiff Ralph Ballard alleged R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the company, which led the plaintiff to get addicted to smoking at an early age and also alleged the company of manufacturing defective cigarettes which caused the plaintiff bladder cancer for which he underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tissue and prevent the disease from spreading. The plaintiff claimed that the surgery left him without a bladder or prostate and he was forced to void through a urine bag attached to his abdomen, causing him discomfort, inconvenience and a loss of sexual ability.
The plaintiff was represented by attorney Alex Alvarez. The defendant in this case, R.J. Reynolds was represented by attorneys Benjamine Reid and Amy Furness.
