In this wrongful death litigation proceeding, plaintiffs Enock and Giselle Plancher alleged coaches, trainers of Central Florida Athletic Association and other defendants of being negligent in not recognizing the sickle-cell trait in their son football player Ereck Plancher, which contributed in his death during an offseason conditioning workout. Plaintiffs counsels claimed that the autopsy report of Erick Plancher confirmed that the offseason workout had tickled Planchers sickle-cell trait, which attacked his organs and caused his body to shut down.
The plaintiffs were represented by attorneys C. Steven Yerrid, David Dickey, J.D. Powell and Jeff Murphy. The defendant in this case, University of Central Florida Athletics Association was represented by attorneys Daniel Shapiro, Sally Slaybaugh and Kevin Taylor.
