Summary

In this medical malpractice proceeding, plaintiff ‘the state of Nevada’ alleged former doctor Dipak K. Desai of medical negligence, fraud and murder in second degree by exposing hundreds of patients of his endoscopy clinics to Hepatitis C through improper re-use of contaminated intravenous injection equipment. The plaintiff’s counsel claimed that the patients who went to endoscopy clinics ran by Dipak K. Desai for treatment were treated using re-used needles and in order to gain huge profits the defendant would perform endoscopies in such hurried manner that fecal matter would spray on the walls of the treatment rooms at his clinics.
The plaintiff was represented by attorney Rick Santacroce and the defendant in this case; Dipak K. Desai was represented by attorney Richard Wright.

Found guilty on all counts of fraud, murder in the second degree, reckless disregard and criminal neglect substantiating in bodily harm.
