In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, Thomas Jewett (personal representative of the estate of Barbara Jewett) alleged Liggett Group, Philip Morris Tobacco Co., R.J. Reynolds and Lorillard Tobacco Co of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the companies, which got plaintiffs wife Barbara Jewett to get addicted to smoking at an early age. The plaintiff also alleged the companies of manufacturing defective cigarettes which resulted in Mrs. Jewetts death due to emphysema (COPD) in the year 2006.
