Summary

In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, plaintiff Anna Huish (personal representative of the estate of John Huish) alleged R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the company, which led her husband John Huish to get addicted to smoking when he was a teenager. The plaintiff also alleged the company of manufacturing defective cigarettes, which resulted in Mr.HuishÂ’s death due to small cell lung cancer in 1993.
The plaintiff was represented by attorney David Sales. The defendant in this case, Philip Morris Tobacco Co was represented by attorney Andrew Brenner.

The jury found in favor of the plaintiff, allocated 50% fault to the smoker, and 25% each to R.J. Reynolds and Philip Morris. The jury awarded compensatory damages of $750K, and punitive damages of $3M.
