In this medical malpractice litigation proceeding, plaintiff Jacob Hootnick alleged Jonathan Wideroff, M.D. of negligence by failing to rapidly diagnose and treat popliteal aneurysm which resulted in the unnecessary mid-thigh amputation of Mr. Hootnick's leg. At the time of the incident Mr. Hootnick was 87 year old and suffering from diabetes when he was admitted to an emergency room in November 2003. According to the defense, Mr. Hootnick had a raging infection that had become septic, Mr. Hootnick would have died had the doctors attempted to perform "cowboy surgery" on a critically ill man.
The plaintiff was represented by attorney Donald Korman. The defendant in this case, Jonathan Wideroff, M.D. was represented by attorney Rose Marie Antonacci-Pollock.
The jury found in favor of all three defendants.
