Summary

Miranda Crohan suffered severe brain damage after a bout of hyponatremia, or low blood sodium. After Crohan collapsed, she was rushed to a hospital, where she was noted to have an electrolyte imbalance.

Crohan sues the treating team of doctors, claiming that they failed to provide proper treatment for her blood sodium levels. Her family's attorneys argue that Crohan's blood sodium levels were overcorrected, causing her to suffer brain damage. And, in the days that followed, they state that providers continued to make medical errors, exacerbating her injuries.

Representatives for her treating physicians dispute these explanations, asserting that doctors followed the standard of care. They attribute Crohan's brain damage to autoimmune encephalitis.
