In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, plaintiff Cindy Evers (personal representative of the estate of Jacqueline Loyd) alleged R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co, Lorillard Tobacco Co and Philip Morris Tobacco Co of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the companies, due to which her mother Jacqueline Loyd got addicted to smoking and also alleged the companies of being liable for manufacturing defective cigarettes which resulted in Mrs. Loyd’s death due to Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
