In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, plaintiff Dorothy Alexander (personal representative of the estate Coleman Alexander) alleged Lorillard Tobacco Co of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the company, which led her husband Coleman Alexander to get addicted to smoking at an early age and also alleged the company of manufacturing defective cigarettes which caused Mr. AlexanderÂ’s death due to lung cancer in 1995.
The plaintiff was represented by attorney Gary Paige and Alex Alvarez. The defendant in this case, Lorillard Tobacco Co was represented by attorneys Edward Cheffy and David Woods.
Phase 1: Found for the plaintiff: 20 million: 80% Lorillard, 20% Alexander
Phase 2: 25 million in punitive damages.
