Case summary: Matthew and Michael Lennig were injured in a head-on collision with a semi-truck helmed by a CRST driver. The trucking firm admitted the driver’s negligence but disputed the severity of the brothers’ claimed injuries, including the traumatic brain injury Matthew Lennig claimed rendered him unable to perform his former duties as a motorcycle police officer.

Technique synopsis: Brian Panish, representing Matthew Lennig, walks jurors through the injury he said had ripple effects across all aspects of Lennig's life. Panish contrasts pre-accident video of Lennig happily in various activities with his family with the defense's post-accident surveillance video. he uses this contrast to blunt the surveillance video's impact and argue the crash robbed Lennig of much of the joy he took from life.

The verdict: $52.84 million total verdict, including $33.6 million to Matthew Lennig.
