Jose Vila’s attorney, Allan Kaiser, tells jurors that the cigarettes Vila smoked for more than a decade while living in the Dominican Republic were marketed by a Philip Morris-owned company, and helped lead to Vila’s laryngeal cancer. Vila sued Philip Morris, claiming his addiction to the tobacco manufacturer’s cigarettes led to his cancer. However, a jury found in favor of the tobacco manufacturer.
