Summary

In this security negligence proceeding, Plaintiff Emibrly Anderson (personal representative of the estate of Emily Anderson) alleged Macy’s Florida Stores LLC and others of negligence which resulted in wrongful death of her mother Emily Anderson, when shoplifting suspects, who were being pursued by Macy’s loss prevention staff ran a stop sign and crashed their car into the security vehicle of Emily Anderson, who was a mall security officer. The counsels of the plaintiff had claimed that the shoplifters were known criminals and Macy’s allowed them in stores even though the company had information regarding their previous crimes.
