In $5M Bad Faith Insurance Suit, Plaintiff’s Attorney Says Insurer Placed Its Interests Above Its Insured

Robert Maddox, representing the Reimers class of plaintiffs in a bad-faith insurance claim against Everest Indemnity Insurance, tells jurors that Everest breached its duty to defend its insured, builder Matthews Homes, in suits stemming from a 2008 flood that damaged subdivision property. Matthews Homes settled the Reimers class action suit against it for $5 million and assigned its right to sue Everest in the case at issue.
