David O. Doyle, representing concierge medical service MDVIP, tells jurors in opening statements that its affiliated physician, Dr. Charles Metzger, acted appropriately in treating one of its members, Joan Beber, and that, in any event, MDVIP was not responsible for Metzger’s treatment decisions. Beber’s husband, Robert, is suing MDVIP and Metzger for negligence he claims led to the amputation of her leg.
